What a unforgettable night for Sevendust fans at the Coolangatta Hotel a few weeks back.  Not only were we blessed with witnessing one of the best metal acts in the business, we were also treated with two of the best local metal acts to come out of Brisbane and the Gold Coast.  Azreal and Darkc3ll were duly selected by Metropolis Touring to support the almighty Sevendust, and after such a quality show it's hoped that the opportunities for local bands to support international acts continue.

Azreal opened the proceedings and warmed up the crowd with brutal force.  The boys were in their element and on their game, belting out crowd favourites “Cease to Be” and “Surveying the Fearful” with precision.  Two new songs were added to the setlist, “Mist” and “Beast” with Beast being a huge standout.  The song is explosive live and one of their more heavier arrangements, (if that’s at all possible for this outstanding thrash/groove metal band).  Azreal will be heading down to Sydney this month so check out their upcoming shows via http://www.azreal.com.au     

Darkc3ll are wonderfully charismatic on stage, and when you add the fact that they are incredibly talented musicians and tight as a band its no wonder their chemistry explodes on stage.  Their dark and evil persona compliments this goth/industrial metal band and after their stella performance I think the boys added a few more devotees to their “Army of Darkness”.  Darkc3ll recently released their fourth album - “Rewired - Versus of Destruction and other Atrocities in the Mind of a Freakenstein” and the guys will feature at Legion Music Fest 2017, which is a huge testament to the band's hard work and dedication.   Check out Darkc3ll profile on the official Legion Music Fest event page http://legionmusicfest.com/project/darkc3ll      

The performance by Sevendust was one of the most energetic and emotionally charged displays I've had the pleasure of seeing.  The crowd intensified as the night went on and it was incredible atmosphere to be amongst.  The chanting and singing by the audience was electric, with lead singer LJ clearly chuffed by the crowd participation.  The frontman is larger than life on stage who’s not afraid to let his guard down.  He spoke emotionally of the loss of his friend and fellow peer, former frontman of the band Snot before performing Angel's Son, and with tears in his eyes he acknowledged the overwhelming support from fans after their recent Grammy nomination for Best Metal Act.
Sevendust are definitely a band for the people.  Their performance was completely from the heart and soul, by the way they spoke, touched and engaged the crowd throughout the entire set.  It was a magical night and definitely one of the best shows I’ve witnessed.  Hopefully its not another 6 years until the mighty Sevendust grace our shores again.  Full respect to all the bands on the night, definitely a show I'll never forget.
